The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test or NEET-UG is an entrance examination in India, for students who wish to study any graduate medical course (MBBS/ dental course (BDS) or postgraduate course (MD/MS) in government or private medical colleges in India. NEET-UG (Undergraduate), for MBBS and BDS courses, are conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE).

Detail 1: About NEET Exam

The NEET (UG) paper consists of 180 objective types multiple choice questions from Physics, Chemistry and Biology (Botany & Zoology).
  • Every question has four options with single correct answer.
  • For each correct response the candidate will get 4 marks.
  • For each incorrect response 1 mark will be deducted from the total score.
  • More than one answer indicated in a question will be deemed as incorrect response and will be negatively marked.
  • Duration of the paper would be 3 hours (10:00 am to 01:00 pm)

Maximum Marks is 720. The candidate can opt for question paper in either of the following languages: Hindi/ English/ Gujarati/ Marathi/ Oriya/ Bengali/ Assamese/ Telugu/ Tamil/ Kannada/ Urdu.
  • 1. The candidate must have completed 17 years of age as or on December 31, 2019.
  • 2. The candidate must have passed class 12th examination with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate, and must have passed in the subjects Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology and English individually.
  • 3. In respect of the candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC categories, the marks obtained in Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Biotechnology taken together in HSC examination is 40% marks.
  • 4. The candidate applying for NEET must be an Indian citizen.
  • 5. The upper age limit for candidates seeking admission through NEET is 25 years as or on December 31, 2019. Further, for the candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribes and Other Backward Categories there is a relaxation of 5 years.
  • 6. Candidates failing to meet the above mentioned criteria shall not permitted to apply for NEET 2019.
